What a fantastic morning with Steve & Lisa such lovely people very down to earth and great with the Birds.
We had booked the Owl Experience and due to the weather thought it may be cancelled but they have the indoor area which was great. We got plenty of time with them and took lots of photos ( we checked we could do this before hand so not to upset the Owls) we also learnt alot you about them you can see how much they are cared for.
Thank you so much Steve & Lisa for a lovely morning hubby was so made up 👍😊
Although it was a long drive from where I live it was well worth the effort. Peter Walker from Jessops Academy greeted us at the gate and we where given our Covid briefing and then our Health & Safety Brief. We where then introduced to Lisa and then Steve who in 5 minutes made you realise that not only was it going to be fun but that they loved what they did and the various birds of prey in their care. We had ample time to photograph the individual birds doing various things from flying and perched. Peter was always on hand to help with any technical queries or advice on best settings for your camera. I came away with hundreds of great photos, memories and advice on photography. Absolutely brilliant day.
Incredible Experience
I met 7 different birds and they were all so well trained and had lovely temperaments. The bonds they had with Steve and Lisa were incredible and you could tell how passionate they both are at what they do.
They conspired with my (now) fiance and orchestrated an unforgettable marriage proposal with the ring being flown over to me by Mojo the Owl and of course, I said yes. It was a wonderful experience that I will remember for the rest of my life.

I booked a hawk walk experience for two for my father’s birthday present at Hawkstone Park.
Steve met us promptly – the walk was about 1-2 hours, kindly tailored not to be too strenuous (for our needs), but still a beautiful stroll through woodland with lots of flying opportunities.
The experience is one of the best things we have ever done! Steve was so personable, friendly and easy to get along with. He is incredibly knowledgeable about birds and wildlife in general. There wasn’t a question he couldn’t answer and he also told us fascinating history of birds of prey as well as the story behind some well known phrases!
Our hawk for the walk (Ivan) was in beautiful condition. It was really important to me that we chose a company that clearly cared about the birds, took excellent care of them and had a genuine passion for their welfare and conservation. Steve (and Ivan!) definitely demonstrated this.
What a fantastic experience – highly recommended and a huge thank you to Steve and Ivan for creating such a special experience for me and my father to share.
Hawk Walk was Brilliant
Had an incredible time doing the owl experience at Shropshire Falconry. It was brilliant! We were guided through by Lisa and Steve – who have brilliant energy and loads of combined knowledge.
Location was difficult to find at first (not their fault!) – don’t use Apple Maps… use Google Maps!
The experience went SO quickly! It would have been great to have an option for a longer ‘hands-on’ experience , however they have amazing Hawk Walks that we’d love to do next time.
Lisa and Steve are amazing people – they are so passionate and inspiring. Well done for all you do guys. You’re amazing! X

The woodland around Hawkstone Park is very suitable for the activity as the birds
can fly free into the trees and then swoop down when a gloved hand offers a titbit.
It is obvious that both Lisa and Steve care very much for the birds in their care some
of which have been rescued.
In conclusion one of the best one and a half hours the four of us have spent in a long time

Shropshire Falconry did a group visit with The Telford Gateway Club. It was fantastic. Lisa & Steve were really lovely with the group who were able to interact with the birds, hold them, see them fly & learn lots about each one. What can I say…. Wow!! I had a wonderful owl experience at Shropshire Falconry. It went too quickly because I was enjoying it so much, grinning from ear to ear the whole time. An incredible relaxed, friendly, professional experience loved by both my son & myself.
We’ve been to a few Falconry Centres, all open to the public. I can’t promote highly enough the benefits of a centre that isn’t but by private appointment only.
Extremely impressed by the standards and welfare of all the birds we viewed and had the pleasure of working with.
The knowledge we gained and the clear passion that radiated from Lisa about all the birds was truly touching and only heightened what was already an amazing experience into a totally unforgettable 1 which had without doubt guaranteed us to join the centre at Hawkstone Follies for a hunting experience in the autumn.

Myself and a friend had an owl experience as a birthday treat today, it couldn’t of been better, the location is idyllic, not only are there birds of prey but there are chickens pottering about, sheep with their lambs and alpacas. The actual Owl experience was brilliant, Lisa explained everything well and not only gave us info on the breed of owl but into their individual personalities too, nothing was rushed, everyone got to have the owls fly to them and we even got to meet the baby steppe eagle afterwards too. We will definitely be back!

Went with a few other photographers from our local club in mid May and weren’t disappointed. Lisa and Steve were the perfect hosts throughout and their passion for and comprehensive knowledge of the subject shone through. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We were there for half a day and offered a good selection of birds to photograph in a variety of poses, often at our request. After tea and biscuits we moved onto photographing birds in flight – a real challenge should you choose to accept it. Some of our partners also came along as spectators which, although incurred a cost, was more than worth it when you consider the information given in the talks alone. All in all, a highly recommended first class experience which I for one am hoping to repeat very soon
What an excellent 90 minutes this was! We took advantage of the hot and sunny weather and spent some time outside with one of the barn owls and hearing about the centre and its owls, before heading into the indoor flying area. Here Lisa brought more owls of all sizes out for our small group to experience.
The centre is in a lovely remote rural location, fortunately the sat nav took us there without problems.

I bought an Owl experience for 2 from an online voucher company which made the experience cheaper, which as a Yorkshire man is always a plus. Finding the venue wasn’t the easiest but was still a fun adventure. On arrival we were greeted and shown the facilities. Once a group of people arrived we were given a talk by the owners of the falconry, we were told about the history of the place and the handlers themselves, as well as useful information on the birds we’d be experiencing. Once we were ready we went to the indoor flying area where we met and handled some beautiful owls, each member of the group taking it in turns to fly the owls from perch to glove. All the owls were beautifully cared for and seemed happy in their surroundings. With each new bird we were given information specific to that breed/lineage. Despite having had lot of bird/owl experiences before we still learned some new information here and got to meet some owls which we hadn’t previously seen. It was a great day out and I’d recommend a visit to anyone. The hosts/owners/handlers were lovely and the venue was fully equipped for both customer and the birds that lived here.

I have done a few of these sessions with other groups but aside from the Barn Owl I flew all new Owls (and can’t decide whether or not the Long Eared Owl or the Boobook Owl is my new favourite Owl). I will definatley be going back for an individual experience Owl experience, hawk walk or even something else and am very interested in volunteering with them; if they will have me.
I cannot recommend them enough and would highly recommend a visit. You will not go away disappointed.

I went with a Jessops group for a days photography experience (they are not open to casual visitors, you need to be part of a pre-booked group). It was excellent for getting close to a wide range of captive bred birds, they have a great range of different locations for photographing the birds, and we were encouraged, with most birds, to get closer than we thought possible. Great for photographers and people interested in wildlife as they were full of knowledge about raptors in general. It was brilliant for close up photos, and testing for getting good flying shots! Its not a zoo, more a living collection for enthusiasts and, as soon as I left I could not wait to get on the phone to tell people what a great day I had.

My sister bought for me an owl experience for Christmas which we attended today and it was absolutely wonderful. There were some very good touches, with there being a kitchen so you can get a brew before meeting the most beautiful creatures. I was wearing a yellow coat, which put off one of the owls (I think he was worried I was danger), but Lisa and Steve soon coaxed him around and he was flying back and forth with such happiness it melts ya heart. Will definitely be back – spread the word to your friends and please make a visit, you won’t regret it!!!

I lost my car keys prior to setting off for the event whilst there was not much that could be done Shropshire Falconry were very understanding even offered a later that day session but my daughter has something planned. Lisa rang the next day and we have re-booked.
Wrap up warm in winter as a little chilly when flying the birds, but it is indoors so not wet. Take your camera, the birds are very well looked after and pose for you!

You are not treated like ” a person in the crowd ” this is a bespoke experience that gives everyone the chance to handle these wonderful birds. . Well done Shropshire falconry !!! Absolutely brilliant day at the owl experience! I was a spectator and watch my parents enjoy the lovely experience of having owl fly to them. I learnt a lot about owls myself and I highly reccomend these guys! 10/10 from me

‘ Just wanted to say thank you for a fabulous time yesterday. What a great way to spend a Sunday morning.It was wonderful to see the birds so close up and behaving as they would in the wild. My wife got me an early Christmas present from groupon for a Christmas owl experience. I have an unusual fear of birds as I’m terrified of everything other than birds of prey, I’m fascinated by them and have been up close and personal to quite a few so I was really looking forward to my visit. The weather yesterday wasn’t brilliant but thankfully Shropshire Falconry have a fantastic indoor flying facility. We were greeted on arrival by Lisa and shortly after by Steve and his daughter Sophie. My wife is disabled and uses a mobility scooter and they couldn’t of been more helpful in getting her safely inside and comfortable. They had obviously gone to a great deal of trouble to ensure that each group that goes to one of these experiences has the best possible time and they are brilliant people that are incredibly passionate about their birds and their business. I’m not going to say what happens during the experience because I don’t want to spoil it for anyone that may read this before they go but needless to say I thought it was amazing, I learn’t a great deal and despite Steve’s best efforts the owls were definitely the stars of the show. So Lisa for me your 5 stars are still very much intact

Excellent value. A delightful morning with experience of getting close up and “handling” a variety of owls (from a small Indian Scops to the larger Great Grey in our case, although no doubt these will vary). The couple who run the place are really friendly and knowledgeable and ensured all present had a chance to fly and hold each of the owls. It was in a large barn so would be suitable for all weathers. The venue is not open to the public, so booking is essential. Spectators get the same close proximity except that they don’t get to actually hold the birds. Other experiences with falcons are also available.

Wonderful experience. Will definitely return for another experience, the keepers were obviously very experienced with the owls welfare their number one priority.
Loved being so close to the owls and equally felt at ease despite the size of some of the larger owls. My wife was nervous about the experience but as soon as she saw the smallest owl she fell in love and was completely relaxed. I would strongly recommend this experience for anyone who loves getting up close and personal with owls
